The Orwell Free Library was housed in this quaint village house until 1928 when it moved into the Clark house next door. Visible in this photograph is the east side of the Masonic Lodge which was moved to behind the Clark house in 2014.

Library Trustees set forth this guiding document in 1938 for the creation of a Historical Collection to preserve Orwell's history.
